Anna Shmidt is a Berlin based flamenco dancer.
Currently lives, dances and works in Berlin.
About
Anna Shmidt was 6 when she began her dance journey, training in classical ballet, ballroom dance, and even break dance. At the age of 16 she joined a group of like-minded and driven people and together they created a dance company. She also started her training in modern choreography at 17.
When traveling to Spain in 2010, she discovered a magic world of flamenco.
Anna's professional journey commenced under the mentorship of Simone Abrantes, whose guidance imparted the nuanced expressiveness of flamenco, shaping Anna's growth as a dancer and fostering a lasting friendship on her path to becoming a professional.
Anna immersed herself in flamenco culture in all of it's diversity and depth. Over the past 10 years, Anna honed her skills in Spain under renowned artists like Joaquin Ruiz, Andrés Marín, Patricia Guerrero, Leonor Leal, Rafaela Carrasco, Mercedes Ruiz, Domingo y Inmaculada Ortega and many others.
Anna’s philosophy is that the world of flamenco has no limits and is a craft which can never be fully perfected. To her, flamenco takes one on an eternal journey in search of self as a dancer, as an artist, and as an individual.

I'm always open to experiments. Flamenco in its grandiosity and beauty captured my soul many years ago. But I also get inspired by new trends in flamenco. I attend many professional workshops and try to absorb all the new material like a sponge and then transform it into my own flamenco style.

As a teacher, Joaquin is deeply respectful of each individual's sensibility. His own philosophy, which has led him to develop his Vulcano and Espacio Abierto Methode, has allowed him to deliver an inspiring and unforgettable experience in his classes. He encourages us to dare, to be true to ourselves, and to challenge ourselves in a personal way, without competitiveness. His serene demeanor and profound understanding of Flamenco, in addition to his career as dancer, choreographer, musician and teacher, makes him a true master. His motivation as a teacher is to discover the simplest and most direct way to transmit the fundamentals and the spirit of Flamenco to his students.
He teaches in several countries, has been instructor at the Ballet Nacional de España, at the wolrd-renowned flamenco school Amor de Dios in Madrid, and has been visiting instructor at the Conservatorio Superior de Danza in Madrid.
